Ex-football official Chuck Blazer details bribes
前足联官员查克·布莱泽承认受贿
Former football official, Chuck Blazer, has admitted in court testimony he conspired with fellow FIFA executives to accept bribes during the process to choose hosts for the 1998 and 2010 World Cups.
The news comes as Australian police say they are now investigating corruption claims surrounding Australia's failed bid for the 2022 World Cup.
The face of North American soccer for two decades, Blazer admitted to a raft of charges related to his leadership of the North and Central American soccer body CONCACAF and membership of FIFA's executive committee. The most serious charge, racketeering, carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
Blazer is awaiting sentencing and may be called to testify in the trials of other sports executives. His testimony is considered a key part of the US investigation targeting massive corruption at football's world body.
