US designer Rick Owens and his crew were recently asked to leave the Forbidden City due to their edgy outfits. Security demanded they wipe off their makeup and wear "normal clothes," but they refused.

Fecal Matter, friends of Owens and models for the Owens brand, stated on social media that they refused the security personnel's request, as their outfit symbolizes their self-identity.

The museum is now looking into the incident, saying outfits "just shouldn't be too over-the-top."

A review of the museum's visitor guidelines reveals that it advises, "Please maintain neat attire. Avoid behavior that may be offensive or harmful to the image." It also specifies that those with inappropriate attire may be denied entry.
故宫参观须知中提到,“请保持衣容整洁。不要做出有碍观瞻、有损形象的行为”“衣容不整者谢绝入院”。
