二、Listen and Learn 内容透析

Power struggle.在大都会美术馆的阶梯上.S与B针锋相对。spot v.认出，发现；n.地点，场所；adj.现场的。power strugle 权力斗争，权利争夺。比如：No country is spared from power struggle which is part and parcel of politics.有政治就必然有权力斗争，任何国家都概莫能外。Married couples should avoid getting into power struggle in this month.夫妇们要避免在这个月吵架。
2. Did s. Think she could waltz home,and things would be just like they were?S会认为她可以凯旋而归，一切都和以前一样吗?waltz n.华尔兹舞曲。Young people like to dance a waltz.年轻人喜欢跳华尔兹舞。这个单词还可以作动词表示“跳华尔兹舞”，比如：They waltz to the tempo of the music.他们跟着音乐的节奏跳华尔兹舞。剧中的意思是“轻快地走动”。waltz off with轻而易举地赢得，不费力气地得到，比如：She waltzed off with the school prizes for maths and science. 她轻而易举赢得了全校数学奖和理科奖。
3. Did b. Think s.Would go down without a fight?B认为S会这么束手就擒吗？go down without a fight 这是个约定俗成的短语，fight 打架，战斗。go down without a fight 未战即言败、不战而屈、束手就擒、俯首称臣。
4. Hottie 是一个美国俚语，意思是“非常热辣、性感、迷人的靓妹”。hottie这个单词也有用于男子的，意思就是“帅哥”了。但是千万要注意，这个称呼有些轻佻和不雅，因此，如果当面称一个人为“hottie”的话，可能会惹上麻烦。美国总统奥巴马就有这样一段轶事，他在水牛城吃小吃的时候，店员Luann Haley当面赞扬他：“You’re a hottie with a smokin’ little body”。这位店员本来是要赞扬奥巴马长得英俊潇洒，没想到却是弄巧成拙，这个不得体的赞扬，使奥巴马尴尬万分。

7. And this could be a classic classic.这场战役，有可能成为经典的一战。 它有两个词性，作名词表示“名著，经典著作”。中国的四大名著（the four classics/the four masterpieces of China）：Romance of the Three Kingdoms 三国演义；Journey to the west/ Pilgrimage to the West 西游记；A Dream of Red Mansions 红楼梦；Water Margin 水浒传。
