NOTES TO THE TEXT
A person who is deaf when he is born, is usually dumb as well.
He is born to be a deaf and dumb person.
If you will go, I will go as well. / If you will go, I will go, too.
Annie Sullivan was Helen's tutor, and she was her friend as well. / Annie Sullivan was Helen's tutor, and she was her friend, too.
Mary is a businesswoman. She is also a mother.
I have written the letters. I should also have posted them.
I play squash and I also play tennis.
If you won't go, I won't go either.
Annie Sullivan was not deaf and she was not blind either.
Mary is not a businesswoman. She is not a mother either.
I don't play squash and I don't play tennis either.
从以上的例句中看出,as well,too和also都用在肯定句当中,as well和too放在句子的末尾,also的位置比较灵活,在否定句中则必须用either。
She fell ill and had a fever.
He fell asleep.
He suddenly fell grave.
He fell ill with cancer.
2)have的用法:
I have a bad headache.
I have a sore throat.
Do you often have colds?
Then in 1887, a teacher, Annie Sullivan arrived at the home of the Kellers to be Helen's tutor.
Even if you have not read it, you may have heard of Helen Keller.
may have done sth.
He may have been at home yesterday.
They may have left last night.
为了便于记忆,可以把well理解成with good reason(有充分理由的)或者reasonably(有理由的)。例如:
He may well have been at home yesterday.
They may well have left last night.
He might have been at home yesterday.
They might have left last night.
在以下的情况下may have和might have不能替代使用:
They might have left last night. But they didn't.
