The 12-day Cannes Film Festival is drawing to a close with the announcement of the awards. Lesbian love story "Blue is The Warmest Colour" by French director Abdellatif Kechiche has won the festival's top honour, the Palme d'Or.
The top acting awards have gone to U.S. actor Bruce Dern for "Nebraska" and French actress Berenice Bejo for "The Past". Mexico's Amat Escalante has won Best Director.
The film "Tian Zhu Ding", or "A Touch of Sin", by Chinese director Jia Zhangke, has won Best Screenplay. The film, with four intertwined stories, is based on real events in China. It depicts a fast-changing country and all the social issues that have resulted.
