Loads of schools all over the UK were built many years ago, so turning them into sustainable, eco-friendly buildings can be a real challenge, but it can be done.

Today I'm in South London at this school where they transformed the building and turned it into a place which has zero waste.

Over the last year, teachers and pupils here have been busy making sure that all their rubbish is recycled, and they're not the only busy bees.

This is brilliant because parents and teachers and the pupils here can bring empty bottles along and fill them up with washing up liquid and shampoo.

The school has teamed up with the Let's Go Zero campaign, which supports schools to think more about the amount of waste they create.

They hope lots of schools across the UK will be zero carbon by 2030.

What does zero carbon mean?

So a zero carbon school is one that, through on its site and through its activities doesn't contribute to climate change through its carbon emissions. And we realise that that is an incredibly challenging target.

But schools are such a brilliant place to start with that, because they have the power to influence and educate how people behave.
