One of China's largest hotpot chains is offering refunds after a shocking video of diners urinating in their broth went viral.

Haidilao, a popular Chinese hotpot chain, is compensating over 4,000 customers who dined at its Shanghai location after two individuals were caught on video urinating into their hotpot while dining in a private room.
海底捞是一家中国著名的火锅连锁店，近日，有两名顾客在海底捞的包间用餐时被拍到往火锅里撒尿，随后，该公司宣布将对曾在这家位于上海的门店用餐的超4000名顾客提供赔偿。
The video, which quickly spread online, sparked outrage across social media.
这段视频迅速在网上传播，在社交媒体上引发了愤怒。
In a statement released on March 12, Haidilao revealed that it only became aware of the incident 4 days after it occurred.

"We fully understand that the distress caused to our customers by this incident cannot be fully compensated for by any means," the company said in a statement.

Authorities have since detained the two 17-year-old perpetrators, who were allegedly intoxicated at the time, they now face civil lawsuits.

While Haidilao has assured customers that its hotpot broth is never reused, it remains unclear how the equipment was cleaned and disinfected before being put back into service.

To make amends, the company is offering full refunds and cash compensation, 10 times the amount spent, to customers who dined at the Shanghai location between February 24 and March 8, according to the Daily Mail.
