The Beijing Olympic flame has arrived in Pakistan's capital of Islamabad for the tenth leg of its global tour.
It is the first time for the Olympic torch relay to be conducted in Pakistan. Senior sports officials in the country say that all arrangements are in place.
The torch relay ceremony will be held on Wednesday at four o'clock in the afternoon local time. A total of 65 torchbearers will carry the Beijing Olympic flame during its tour in Islamabad. Among them is Luo Zhaohui, the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan.
''I feel greatly honored to be a torch bearer. This is part of creating history.''
A local Pakistani volunteer said she is happy to do her part to ensure the process running smoothly.
''[I am] Really excited about the game, especially to see the torch relay, and wish the Chinese people best of luck in the Olympic Games. We look forward to watching them in August. We love China.''
Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf also voiced firm support for the Beijing Olympics, saying his country has taken all measures to ensure the success of the upcoming torch relay.
"No Pakistanis will do that. However, we have to take care that there is no infiltration by some elements who are bent on disrupting our understanding and great relationship."
Musharraf expressed his warm congratulations and best wishes to the Beijing Olympics, saying Pakistan firmly opposes any attempt to politicize the Games and any actions to disrupt the event.
