Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi has met with the under secretary of the UK's foreign affairs ministry Alok Sharma in Beijing. The two sides hailed the recent developments in bilateral relations.
Wang said China is willing to work with the UK government in deepening cooperation in all areas, and continuing to push forward the China-UK comprehensive strategic partnership. He added that China welcomes Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May as she will be in Hangzhou in September for the G20 Summit.
And UK's foreign affairs under secretary Sharma said the UK values China as an important strategic partner. And he said Britain looks forward to cooperating with China on economy, trade and other global issues. And he also expressed high hopes and support for China as the country is set to host the upcoming G20 Summit.
