China's Foreign Ministry summoned the US ambassador in Beijing on Sunday over the detention of Meng Wanzhou, a senior executive of the Chinese tech company Huawei. Vice Foreign Ministry Le Yucheng issued a strong protest saying the US demand for Canada to detain Meng was a serious violation of a Chinese citizen’s lawful rights He urged the U.S. to immediately rescind its rest warrant and said China will respond according to US actions. On Saturday the Vice foreign minister summoned the Canadian ambassador to China over the detention and urged the Canadian government to immediately release Meng. The Huawei Chief Finance Officer was detained by Canadian police while transferring flights in Vancouver on December 1st. The US wants her extradited. No decision was waged at a court hearing on Friday on what Meng can be bailed and the hearing was adjourned until Monday
