二、口译技巧

1.词性转化
副词转化为名词
What we do with information technology and how we use it, will determine our success industrially and as a society for years to come.
我们对信息技术的处理和利用将决定未来岁月中工业及着呢改革社会的成败。

副词转化为动词
Using second generation Internet technology, they recreated the sense of touch over a 3,000 mile distance ­­-- ⋯
他们使用第二代因特网技术跨越3,000英里再现了触摸的感觉。

形容词转化为动词
That is why we aim to have all government services on-line by 2005。
我们的目标是在2005年之前实现政务网络化

Its potential is still hugely under-exploited --
它的潜力还有待大力开发⋯⋯ （也可理解为运用了反译技巧）

this Government is absolutely determined to meet the challenge and set out nation on the course to succeed.
本届政府将坚决地迎接挑战，使我国迈上成功之路。（原文中“succeed”的翻译采用了动词转化为名词的技巧）

2.拆分
The fundamental challenge is to create a knowledge-driven economy / that serves our long-term goals of first-class public services and economic prosperity for all.
最根本的挑战是建立一种知识型经济， / 以实现我们建立一流服务体系和实现共同富裕的长远目标。（同时使用了增词技巧）

5.引申
A conversation in which we are breaking new ground in scientific and technological advance, in which our schools and universities feel comfortable with its potential; ⋯
在这种对话中，我们可以在科学技术的发展中不断创新，大中学校则可得益其潜在效益，⋯⋯

6.增词
We need to use ideas and intelligence in new ways that create higher value products and better quality services.
我们需要以新的方式运用观念和智能，以生产出具有更高附加值的产品，提供更好的服务。（增加动词）

And we will be investing in ICT infrastructure throughout the criminal justice system.
