William: Well, the phrase die-hard is used to describe people who believe in something a bit old-fashioned or out-of-date but they won't change their beliefs.

Feifei: Die-hard 也可以用来形容某个人坚持追随一个在他人眼里看来已经过时的信念或看法。So is your dad old-fashioned then William? 这么说你老爸是一个传统的人喽？

William: No, no. This is actually a new meaning of the phrase die-hard. When I say my dad is a die-hard Fulham fan, I mean that he would support Fulham no matter what! 不，不是的。其实我们现在说的这个意思是die-hard这个短语的新含义。我说我爸是福尔汉姆的die-hard粉丝，意思是说他总是全力支持福尔汉姆队。
