Lesson 10 Key Conversation First Day, Huh?

George: First day, huh?

Jack: Yeah. I'm actually kind of nervous. I don't really know what to expect. What about you?

George: Oh, I've been with this company for years. Ever since I was around your age, I'd imagine. Now those were the days.

Jack: Wow. That's a long time with one company. I mean, I can't even imagine being here for more than five years.

George: That's the thing with you young people these days. You're always on the move. Back in my day, people stuck with their jobs for life. Our top priority was to put food on the table for our families.

Jack: Yeah, well… The world is such a big place, you know? And besides, there really is only just me, so I don't have any family holding me back.

George: No family? That's too bad. A handsome young guy like yourself, especially with a good job. Surely, there must be someone you care about.

Jack: Yeah, I have my girlfriend.

George: So, what's stopping you from marrying the girl?

Jack: I just like having my freedom, you know? People don't get married until they're old and ready to settle down. I mean, maybe that's what people did back in the day, but now? That's just way too old-fashioned.
