Frank: Have you seen any of Mozart's operas?
弗兰克：你看过莫扎特的歌剧吗？
Lu: Mozart? Do you mean the world renowned musician? What has he to do with opera?
陆：莫扎特？你说的是那个世界著名的音乐家吧？他怎么跟歌剧扯上关系了？
Frank: He was a composer. In fact he produced over 20 Italian operas, Magic Flute, and The Marriage of Figaro and so on.
弗兰克：他是个作曲家啊。事实上他创作了20多部意大利歌剧，《魔笛》《费加罗的婚礼》等等。
Lu: Oh, my goodness! Forgive my ignorance. I've always subconsciously associated opera with playwrights in my mind.
陆：天哪，请原谅我的无知。说到歌剧我总是潜意识地和剧作家联系起来。
Frank: The English drama is very different from Italian opera, although both are art forms of the stage.
弗兰克：英国戏剧与意大利歌剧差别很大，虽然这两者都是舞台表演艺术。
Lu: So what's the difference?
陆：那这两者的区别是什么？
Frank: The most obvious difference is that British drama is combined with music and dance, while Italian opera is sung throughout.
弗兰克：最明显的区别就是英国戏剧结合了音乐和舞蹈，但意大利歌剧却是从头唱到尾。
Lu: So that's why Italian opera is produced by composers while English drama is written by playwrights?
陆：这就是为什么意大利歌剧是由作曲家创作的，而英国戏剧是剧作家写成的？
Frank: Right.
弗兰克：正是如此。
