Exclusive interview: Challenges ahead for Chinese companies going global
专访俞敏洪 中国企业走向世界的挑战
Every Chinese company going global has its own stories. Yu Minhong and his New Oriental is no exception. The Chinese education giant is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
Things went well for a while and then he hit a rough patch. His company was accused of misstating the value of its shares by a US short seller who profited from the ups and downs of the company’s shares.
Though eventually his New Oriental was found innocent, the experience earned him the respect of the country’s political advisors. Yu was being selected to be a CPPCC member due to the success of his company and his own legend.
CCTV News senior reporter Tian Wei spoke with Yu about the realities of Chinese companies going global.
