Tiger Woods has enjoyed the perfect warm up before the year’s final major, storming to victory at the Bridgestone Invitational. The World Number One claimed his eighth title at the course in Ohio, winning by seven shots.
The Firestone Country Club was bathed in sunshine on the final day of play. Here’s Luke Donald at the third, and his second shot sails through the air to land quite nicely, just a few feet away from the hole He would birdie here to go to eight-under.
Keegan Bradley on the 17th green, and he’s looking to sink this putt to go eight-under as well, which he does.
Henrik Stenson also at 17, and this is a nice chip from the fairway to the green, the ball then rolling back to give him a good chance at a birdie. So he follows up by judging this putt perfectly, to also go to eight-under. Stenson and Bradley end up tied for second.
And now to Woods at the par-four, tenth hole, this ball will take a high arc before landing nicely, and rolling towards the flag. The World Number One with more great ball striking.
And here he is on the 18th, for the win, and he’s not gonna miss from there. Tiger easing to a seven-shot victory, his 79th win on the Tour. He looks in great shape to pick up his first major win in five years at the PGA Championship which starts on Thursday.
So here you see the leaderboard, it’s a runaway for Woods. Bradley and Stenson played well, but this was no ordinary tournament, with Tiger at his best, and now the golf world waits to see if he performance can carry over to Oak Hill, this upcoming weekend.
