Cold front to clear China's smog
冷空气来袭 雾霾即将散去
Smog continues to choke much of northern China, with national weather authorities issuing a pollution alert for a seventh straight day.
Dense haze is still shrouding Beijing, Tianjin, and several surrounding provinces. A strong cold front is forecast to sweep across northern China and help disperse the persistent smog.
By early Wednesday, the cold air had arrived in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in north China and some northwestern regions, and will move south to sweep across northern China, bringing temperature drops of up to 14 degrees Celsius.
Lingering smog in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province will be dispersed. Beijing authorities have announced to lift its smog alert by the end of Wednesday.
