China railway expects 30 million holiday travellers
端午假期来临 铁路迎来数千万客流
The Dragon Boat Festival is around the corner. Like any other festival in the world’s most populous country, bustling holiday travellers are expected to hit the road and rails en-masse.
China’s railway operator is expecting passenger traffic of over 30 million during the three-day festival. China Railway Corporation says it will be launching close to 500 temporary routes to meet the expected travel boom.
Heavy passenger flows are expected on train routes from Beijing to major cities in the south, such as Shanghai and Guangzhou. The northeastern city of Harbin and the port city of Qingdao are also forecast to see increased traveller flows as well.
