Heavy rains leave 27 dead, 2 missing in South China

Rainstorms and flooding have left 27 dead and 2 missing in 6 provinces of South China. More than 3.4 million people have been affected.
According to the National Commission for Disaster Reduction, 240, 000 people from Fujian, Guangdong, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Chongqing have been forced to evacuate and the rain has caused a direct economic loss of 3.6 billion RMB. The heavy rains have also caused more than 9, 000 houses to collapse.
In southwest China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a landslide occurred on a provincial road, blocking traffic. After 20 hours of repair, the road was returned to normal on Friday afternoon. And disaster relief has been going on in Guizhou Province, after the heavy rains. Communication in Shiqian county has been restored and the power and water supply are returning to normal. But in some of the province’s remote villages, houses have been severely damaged. People there are in need of tents, quilts and food.
