On the morning of May 11, the management office of Yangzhou Zhuyuwan Zoo in Jiangsu province posted a reward notice on its official WeChat account. The notice expained that Doubao, a capybara from the scenic area's zoo, had escaped and has been evading recapture for 40 days.
5月11日上午，江苏省扬州市茱萸湾风景区管理处在其官方微信公众号发布一则悬赏公告，称茱萸湾动物园的卡皮巴拉豆包于2025年4月3日出逃，至今已达40天。
According to the notice, Doubao, the "fugitive" capybara, escaped with two companions during a late night "jailbreak" on April 3, 2025.
公告称，嫌疑犯豆包于2025年4月3日凌晨，伙同家庭成员集体越狱，霸总、躲躲已“依法逮捕归案”。目前豆包仍在逃。
From surveillance video checked by caregivers, the escape appears to have been spearheaded by Bazong, who headbutted a wooden window to flee, bring his two accomplices with him. While Bazong and Duoduo have both been recaptured, Doubao remains at large.
据此前报道，4月3日凌晨，3只卡皮巴拉集体从“公寓”里逃跑。饲养员查看公共视频发现，霸总是这起“越狱”事件的“带头大哥”。当天凌晨3点左右，平日里看起来憨厚的霸总，用它的“铁头功”撞坏了“公寓”的木质窗户，然后带着躲躲和豆包一起溜了出去。目前仅剩豆包还在外面“流浪”。
"Kǎpíbalā" is a phonetic adaptation of the English word capybara (/?k?p??bɑ?r?/), which traces its etymology back to the Tupi language of South America. Derived from "ka'api?ara", meaning "lord of the water" or "master of the grasses", the name reflects the animal's semi-aquatic lifestyle.
