As soon as Ivan began to pull on the rope, Lodo came quickly, because he hoped that Ivan would give him a little salt.
伊万刚一拉绳子，罗多就快速的跑过来了，因为他希望伊万给他一点盐。

Ivan's father was waiting with a new harness, which he put on Lodo and fastened to the sled.

The harness had only one rein instead of the two that are used in driving a horse.
这套轭具与用来驾驭马匹的轭具不同，马匹用的有两根缰绳，而它只有一根缰绳。
When everything was ready, Ivan jumped into his sled and put a warm reindeer skin about him.
一切准备妥当以后伊万便跳进了雪橇里，盖上了暖暖的驯鹿皮。
His father said, "Hold the rein just as I have told you and drive to the end of our pasture and back."
他父亲说，像我跟你说的那样，抓紧缰绳，驾到我们牧场的另一端，再折返回来。
Then he whistled to the reindeer; and at once Ivan was off, flying over the white snow.
接着他向驯鹿吹了吹口哨，伊万马上出发了，在白色的雪地上飞驰起来。
The sled went up and down over bumpy places, but Ivan was not afraid.
雪橇上下颠簸着行进在崎岖不平的地方，但是伊万不怕。
In a few minutes he was at the end of the pasture.
几分钟以后他就到了牧场的另一端。
There he turned Lodo around, and very soon was home again.
然后他把罗多转个头，很快又回到了家。
What a fine, fast ride it had been!
这可真是一次又快又好的驾驭经历啊！
"Well done, Ivan!" said his father.
父亲说，伊万做得好！
"You need not ride with your mother or me any more.
你不需要再和妈妈或我一起乘坐雪橇了。
From now on, you can always drive your own reindeer."
从现在开始，你可以驾驭自己的驯鹿了。
Oh! how happy Ivan was!
伊万高兴坏了！
