'Why don't you just drop a couple of subjects?' Harry asked, watching her lifting books as she searched for her Rune dictionary.

'I couldn't do that!' said Hermione, looking scandalised.

'Arithmancy looks terrible,' said Harry, picking up a very complicated-looking number chart.

'Oh, no, it's wonderful!' said Hermione earnestly. 'It's my favourite subject! It's —'
“哦，不。算术占卜好奇妙！”赫敏真诚地说，“算术占卜是我喜爱的一门课！它的……”
But exactly what was wonderful about Arithmancy, Harry never found out.
但哈利从来没有弄懂算术占卜奇妙在哪里。
At that precise moment, a strangled yell echoed down the boys' staircase.

'SCABBERS! LOOK! SCABBERS!'
“斑斑！看！斑斑！”
Hermione was leaning away from Ron, looking utterly bewildered.
赫敏躲开罗恩，完全不知所措。
Harry looked down at the sheet Ron was holding.
哈利往罗恩拿着的那条床单上看去。
There was something red on it. Something that looked horribly like —

'BLOOD!' Ron yelled into the stunned silence. 'HE'S GONE! AND YOU KNOW WHAT WAS ON THE FLOOR?'

'N-no,' said Hermione, in a trembling voice.
“不，不知道。”赫敏说，声音都抖了。
Ron threw something down onto Hermione's Rune translation.
罗恩把什么东西扔在赫敏的译文上面。
Hermione and Harry leant forward.
赫敏和哈利俯身向前。
Lying on top of the weird, spiky shapes were several long, ginger cat hairs.
散在那奇形怪状、长而尖的字迹上的是长长的几根姜黄色猫毛。
