La Palma is a small island. It belongs to Spain’s Canary Islands. A volcano erupts on La Palma in September 2021.

拉帕尔马是一个小岛。它属于西班牙的加那利群岛。2021年9月，拉帕尔马的一座火山爆发。

Lava destroys thousands of homes. 7,000 people must leave. The area changes a lot. There are no green hills. The place is dark. Some people cannot go back home.

熔岩摧毁了数千座房屋。7000人必须离开这里。这个地区变化很大。没有青山。到处是黑色的。有些人回不了家。

There are many craters in the volcano. Gas still comes from the craters. Officials close the area. Only scientists can go near the volcano.

They check how hot it is. The temperature inside the volcano can be 840 degrees Celsius. It can stay this high for many years.

A group of journalists can look at the volcano. It is a special moment. They see how big the volcano really is.

Notes:

1.belong to：属于。belonging意为“归属感，所有物，附属物”，归属感也可表达为：sense of belonging。

2.erupt：v. 喷发；爆发，突然发生。动词短语break out也意为爆发，喷发。

3.lava：n. （火山）熔岩，岩浆，指的是火山喷发后产生的炽热熔融体。

4.temperature：n. 温度，气温。日常会用到的“量体温”可以说：take sb.'s temperature。
