A gunman killed more than a dozen people and seriously injured others at a Prague university on Thursday, police said, in what was the country's worst-ever mass shooting.

Czech police responded to the shooting at Charles University's Faculty of Arts building shortly after 3 p.m. local time.

The gunman was a student at the faculty, police said. His father was found dead earlier in the day.
