Unit 11 Making A Puppet
One day.Patsy watched a puppet show at the Arts Centre.
She wanted make her own puppet and put on her own puppet show.
She went to the library and borrowed a book.
Here are the instructions from the book.
A Puppet
1.You need the following things:
cardboard,paper clips, string,a pair of scissors and paints or felt pens.
2.Make the head and body first.Then make the arms,legs and feet (see diagram A).
3.Cut the pieces out of cardboard.
4.Make holes in the body,leg,arm and foot pieces.
5.Fasten the paper clips through the holes(see diagram B) to make the joints.
6.Draw the mouth, eyes and ears with paints or different coloured felt pen.
7.Then paint the puppet with bright colours.
8.Make more holes in the body,leg,arm and foot pieces.
9.Thread string through the holes (see diagram C).
Tie knots in the string.Pull the string to make the puppet move.
Patsy made four puttets.She made a robot,a monkey, a policeman and a clown.
Sally Structure
The body is made of cardboard.
The joints are made from paper clips.
The mouth is drawn with a felt pen.
Strings are tied to the joints.

Annie showed her puppet to her friend, Susan.
Susan:It's very nice. What's he called?
Annie:He's called 'Monkey'.
Susan:What's he made of?
Annie:His head and body are made of cardboard.
The legs and arms are made of cardboard,too.
Susan:I like his joints.How are they made?
Annie:They're made from paper clips.
Susan:How does he move?
Annie:Strings are tied to the joints. When they are pulled, the joints move.
Susan:I'm going to make one,too.
