Ta'er Lamasery derives its name from the Golden-roofed Lamasery's silver tower built in memory of Zongkaba,the founder of Huangjiao (the Yellow Section).
塔尔寺得名于大金瓦寺内为纪念黄教创始人宗喀巴而建的大银塔,
The silver tower is called 'Gunbenxianbalin', in Tibetan, meaning "a Maitreya Lamasery where 100 000 lions roar at a Buddha Portrait."
藏语称为“衮本贤巴林”,意思是“十万狮子吼佛像的弥勒寺”。
