Past perfect and past simple, 2 tenses easily confused.
过去完成时，一般过去时，两个很容易混淆的时态。
A lot of people think they're exactly the same, but are they? No, they aren't.
很多人以为这两个时态完全一样，是吗？不是的，不一样。
In today's Mini English Lesson, I'm gonna show you the difference.
在今天的迷你英语课中，我将告诉大家这两个时态有什么区别。
So past simple is a tense that talks about an action that happened at a specific time in the past and is finished.
一般过去时谈论发生在过去特定时间点的动作，而且动作已经完成。
Past perfect also talks about an action that happened in the past and is finished,
过去完成时也谈论发生在过去而且已经完成的动作，
but way back before the action that past simple talks about
但是动作发生在一般过去时谈论的时间之前。
Let me give you an example.
给大家一个例子。
Yesterday at 5 o'clock in the afternoon you bought a house.
昨天下午5点你买了房子，
But you had no money, so at 3 o'clock in the afternoon you went to the bank and got a loan.
但是你没有钱，所以在昨天下午3点你去银行贷了款。
So the first action, the oldest action, past perfect, is getting the loan.
所以先发生的动作，最早的动作，用过去完成时的，是贷款。
The newest action is buying the house.
最新的动作是买房。
So if I put this in a sentence: After the bank had given you the money (past perfect), you bought the house. (simple past)
用句子来描述：银行借给你钱之后（过去完成时），你买了房（一般过去时）。
Another example which involves trains is "by the time we got to the train station, the train had already left."
另一个涉及火车的例句：等我们到了火车站，火车已经开走了。
Now note "already" is a keyword of past perfect.
请注意，“已经”是过去完成时的关键词，
So what happened here? The train left and then we arrived at the station
所以发生了什么？火车开走了，然后我们到了火车站。
So the first action "had left" (past perfect) and "us arriving, we arrived" (simple past) comes later.
第一个动作是“已经开走了”（过去完成时），然后“我们到了”（一般过去时）是之后发生的。
So there you have it. Two examples to remind you of the difference between past simple and past perfect.
