be nowhere in sight 不见踪影
“be nowhere in sight”就是“怎么找都看不到”的意思，sight这个字就是“视线”的意思。Nowhere这个字若用中文的逻辑来直译，会显得有些尴尬，不过这个字在美语中的用法却是很活泼的，亦能和中文的概念互相援引。比如说，in the middle of nowhere就是中文里头“偏僻之地”的意思。而若是有什么东西突然不知道从什么地方冒出来，就可以说“It came out of nowhere！”
A：We’ve have been waiting for the bus for over an hour. 我们已经等了一个多小时的公共汽车。
B：I know. And it’s still nowhere in sight. 我知道。还是不见公车的影子。
A：Uh oh. Our car is almost out of gas. 不秒。我们的车子快没汽油了。
B：And we’re in the middle of nowhere. 而且又在这鸟不生蛋的地方。
