第一、固定搭配短语
1. as soon as possible：尽快地
讲解：as soon as归属于连词性短语，意思是“一.....就......”，起到连词的作用，其后面加上possible这个形容词时，意思就是“尽可能快地”。
例句：I asked her to get in touch with Henry as soon as possible.
我要求她尽快与亨利联系。
2. fill with
讲解：fill是动词，with是介词，这两个词后都接something，即：fill something with something，意思是“使......充满......”。
例句：He filled (in/up) the hole with small stones.
他用小石块把洞填满了。
He filled the glass with water.

3. take one’s eyes off sb
讲解：take在这里的意思是“把”，off是“离开”的意思，take one’s eyes off sb意“把某人的视线从某人身上转移开”。它通常与could not连用，表示“目不转睛地盯着某人”。

5. would rather
讲解：rather后面接动词，使用其原形。如果表示否定意义，在rather的后面加上not，后面在接动词原形。与之相关的一个短语是：would rather...than...，它的意思是宁愿......而不愿......，宁可......而不愿......，使用时，than的后面接动词原形。
例句：I would rather wait till tomorrow.
我宁愿等到明天。
I would rather kill the animal outright than leave it to suffer.
我宁愿立刻杀死这个动物而不愿让它遭罪。
