Typhoon Hagupit tears through Philippines, at least 3 dead

Typhoon Hagupit pounded the central Philippines, Sunday, causing floods, toppling trees and cutting power lines. And now, officials confirm at least three people have died. Howling winds and rain destroyed houses, roofs were ripped off and many thatched homes were lifted and then dumped a few feet away. And the National Disaster Agency says it isn't over yet:

Authorities say this typhoon did not appear as destructive as last year's Typhoon Haiyan, in part due to a massive operation that evacuated more than 1 million residents from coastal and landslide-prone areas.

In Ebola-stricken Sierre Leone, this helicopter food drop is a sight for sore eyes. The British army delivered 22 tons of food and supplies,provided by the U.N., to the country's Turtle Islands. This is normally a paradise tourist hot spot ... famed for its fish trade. But the worst ever Ebola outbreak on record is hampering the movement of people and goods across the region. So the islanders, say U.N. World Food Program officials, just can't get to the markets on their boats any more.

Hundreds of islanders will get this aid ... rice, cereals, flour and oil. Just four Ebola cases have been reported in this district. But Sierre Leone as a whole is among the hardest hit nations in the current outbreak ... one that's already claimed some 6,200 lives across West Africa.

Braving frigid temperatures and brisk wind these Ukrainians arrive at a destroyed World War II monument in Donetsk. A soldier's boot stands tall among the debris -- the scene of fierce fighting last August, when separatists retook the strategic overlook from government troops. Some residents say they'd gladly donate money to see a chapel constructed in its place:
