President Trump has told a US broadcaster that he's become very angry with Vladimir Putin after weeks of trying to negotiate a ceasefire with Ukraine.

Mr. Trump also threatened to impose secondary tariffs on countries that buy Russian oil if Mr. Putin obstructed a ceasefire.

NBC News said that in a 10-minute phone interview, Mr. Trump told them he was very angry when Mr. Putin criticized the credibility of Mr. Zelensky's leadership.

Mr. Trump also threatened to target Russia's economy if Mr. Putin refused to agree a ceasefire within a month, but Mr. Trump thought it was Russia's fault.

In such a case, Mr. Trump said he would impose secondary tariffs of up to 50 percent on goods entering the U.S. from countries still buying oil from Russia, the biggest such buyers by a long margin are China and India.
