Icicles formed over running waterfall in N. China
天寒地冻 壶口瀑布上方形成冰柱
The Hukou waterfall, the largest one on the Yellow River, has become a hot spot for tourists and photographers. They are there for a good reason: the icicles that have formed over the waterfall due to the cold front sweeping the region.
Temperatures have been constantly at below minus ten degrees Celsius in Hukou for over a week. This is the first time people in the region have seen the spectacular icicles form over the waterfall this winter.
Weather forecasters say if the temperatures remain low, folks in Hukou can expect to see water and ice blocks running together in the coming days. The Hukou Waterfall is a famous attraction in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, where the river’s width abruptly narrows to less than 30 meters.
