双重比较: 越...就越...

编辑:Sara   可可英语APP下载 |  可可官方微信:ikekenet

If you tighten your grip more, more star systems will slip through your fingers.

如果你再握紧一点,更多的星系就会从你的指缝间溜走。

If you go deeper, it gets darker.

如果你往更深处走,就会变得越暗。

If you know more, you realise more that you don't know.

如果你知道得越多,就会意识到越多你不知道的东西。

So, do any of these lines from famous films ring a bell?

这些来自著名电影的台词让你觉得耳熟吗?

Maybe? Or maybe not.

也许是?也许不是。

And that's because they're not exactly as they were said in the films.

这是因为它们并不是电影中的原话。

Okay, sure. All these sentences are grammatically correct,

当然,所有这些句子在语法上都是正确的,

but notice they've got a double comparative adjective in both parts of the sentence.

但是请注意,句子的两个部分都有一个双重比较形容词。

And this means when something happens more, another thing happens more.

这表示当某事发生得更多时,另一件事也会发生得更多。

This is called a double comparative.

这被称为双重比较。

And in this video, you're gonna learn about three different ways you can use double comparatives to sound more natural.

在这个视频中,你将学习到用双重比较的三种不同的方法,可以让语言听起来更自然。

Number one. The basic formula is the plus comparative adjective plus noun or verb phrase, comma, the plus comparative adjective, noun or verb phrase.

第一,基本公式:The+比较级形容词+名词或动词短语,逗号,the+比较级形容词+名词或动词短语。

But don't worry, it's not as complicated as it sounds.

但是不要担心,并不像听起来那么复杂。

Here's an example.

这里有一个例子。

In Star Wars, we don't hear Princess Leia say: If you tighten your grip more, more star systems will slip through your fingers.

在《星球大战》中,我们没有听到莱娅公主说:“如果你再握紧一点,更多的星系就会从你的指缝间溜走。”

We actually hear her say: 'The more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers.'

我们实际上听到她说:“你越是紧握,越多的星系就会从你的指缝间溜走。”

Number two. We can also do something similar with the word less.

第二,我们也可以用less这个词造类似的句子。

This means when something goes down, another thing also goes down.

这表示当某事下降时,另一件事也会下降。

It's almost the same formula as before, but we use the word less instead of more.

和之前的公式一样,但是我们用less这个词而不是more。

The formula is the plus less, comparative adjective, plus noun or verb phrase, comma, the plus less, comparative adjective, and followed by the noun or verb phrase.

公式:the+ less比较级形容词 +名词或动词短语,逗号,the+ less比较级形容词 +名词或动词短语。

The less you save now, the less you'll have to spend later.

你现在存钱越少,以后可花的就越少。

Number three. We can also mix more and less in the same sentence.

第三,我们也可以在同一个句子中混合使用more和less。

So instead of saying, 'If you worry more, you'll sleep less',

我们不说:“如果你更担心,就会睡得更少。”

we actually say, 'The more you worry, the less you'll sleep.'

而是说:“你越担心,就会睡得越少。”

Did you hear the difference between the two sentences?

你听到这两个句子之间的区别了吗?

The first one sounds quite boring, whereas the second sentence, using a double comparative, sounds much more natural and fluid.

第一个句子听起来有些无聊,而第二个句子使用了双重比较级,听起来更加自然流畅。

So, you've stuck with me for this long, I'm gonna give you a bonus.

你已经跟着我学了这么久了,我要给你一个奖励。

There's one more way we can use a double comparative, and it's for talking about personal preferences.

还有一种使用双重比较级的方式,用于谈论个人偏好。

We use the formula the plus comparative adjective, comma, the better.

公式:The+形容词比较级+逗号+the better。

Simple, right? Let's see how it works.

简单,对吧?让我们看看是怎么用的。

So say somebody asks you, how do you like your tea?

如果有人问你:你喜欢怎样喝茶?

You could say, the stronger the better, if you like a well brewed cup of tea to wake you up in the morning.

如果你喜欢泡一杯浓茶,在早上让你精神焕发,你可以说“越浓越好”。

Or perhaps you're shopping for a new pair of trainers, but you don't have a lot of money, and the shop assistant asks you, 'how much would you like to spend?'

或者你在买新的运动鞋,但是你没有很多钱,店员问你:你想花多少钱?

You could say, 'oh, the cheaper, the better.'

你可以说:“哦,越便宜越好。”

So hopefully this video has given you some useful ways to talk about how changing one thing affects another thing.

希望这个视频给了你一些有用的方法,来谈论改变一件事如何影响另一件事。

And of course, the more you practise, the more naturally it will come to you.

当然,你练习得越多,就会使用地越自然。
