People need entertainment, however, with the development of the society and innovation of technology, more gray culture elements are emerging in our daily lives, namely erotic text messages, online seductive advertisements, vulgar movies and art works in the name of "arts".
An article in China's leading newspaper, People's Daily, says it's time to actions to curb the negative influence from the gray culture, and prevent the public, especially the young people, from being affected.
The paper says young people are a group with strong learning ability, at the same time they lack the ability of differentiation.
The gray culture has various forms, usually under the disguise of "no harm, just for entertainment". The core of the mischievous tricks is shirking social responsibility and distorting value judgment.
Therefore young people may easily indulge in the fun of enjoying the gray culture products, and lose their sense of responsibility.
The article further comments that some media organization are spreading grey culture products just for gaining popularity.
The newspaper points out that the damage brought by the gray culture is also revealed in public's different evaluation standard for the culture of sex and violence. The result is that the gray culture producers are making money, while the public are exposed under such contamination of their souls.
The paper then calls on the government to give enough attention to the erosion and pollution brought by the gray culture to the society, and take some concrete measures to address the issue.
