一.remember：v. 记得，想起，记住，回忆，提及
【词义辨析】
memorize, remember, recall, recollect, remind,
memorize: 指有意识的下功夫把某事的整个细节都记在脑子里。
remember: 含义较广，多指无意识地回忆起往事，也可指通过主观努力去记忆。
recall: 比remember文雅，指想方设法回忆已经遗忘之事。
recollect: 指在记忆中搜索，设法想起一时想不起的事情或人，强调过程。
remind: 指经某人或某事的提醒而回忆起某件已遗忘之事。
【例句用法】
1.I remember his objecting to the scheme.
我记得他曾经反对该计划。
2.I remember seeing him once.
我记得见过他一次。
3.I'm sorry, I can't remember your name.
对不起，我想不起你的名字了。
4.Please remember me to your family.
请代我问候你的家人。
二.lose：vt. 丢失，失败，削减，丧生，看不到，亏损，迷失 vi. 失败，经受损失，走慢
【词义辨析】
lose, miss, misplace,
lose: 最普通用词，侧重遗失了，难以找回来。
miss: 着重发觉某人或某物不见的瞬间，也可作思念解。
misplace: 指反映东西放错或故意放错地方。
【词语用法】
lose no time in ...一般表示“赶快去……”，有时也表示“不白费时间在……”。在容易产生歧义的场合应避免使用。注意in有时被省略。
I lost no time (in) following up the idea.
我要赶紧跟进这个想法。
lost to...通常作“失去了……”解，不过应在容易被误会的场合避免使用。
The opportunity was lost to him.
他失去了机会。
lose后可跟双宾语。
His laziness lost him his job.
他的懒惰使他失去了职位。
lose是短暂动词，所以不可用于完成时态。
He has lost his pen for a week.
He lost his pen a week ago.
It is a week since he lost his pen.
第一句的表达方式是错误的，后面两句的表达方式是正确的。
lose作“迷路”意时为及物动词，后面须跟宾语，如lose one's way。
【错句举例与错句分析】
错句：Traditional open fires are too often inefficient and draughty, losing most of their heat into the surrounding masonry up the chimney.
纠正：Traditional open fires are too often inefficient and draughty, wastefully directing most of their heat into the surrounding masonry up the chimney.
翻译：传统的明火经常过于通风效率低下，大部分的热量都散发到周围的水泥砖石建筑之中白白浪费。
分析：失去的东西意味着无法再找回，可以说火失去热度，但不能说火失热给水泥砖石结构。
【例句用法】
1.Such behaviour will lose you everyone's sympathy.
你这种表现大家就不会同情你了。
2.He lost his life in the war.
他在战争中丧生。
3.I lost my wallet yesterday.
我昨天丢了钱包。
